Mrs Brown is a 1997 British drama film directed by John Madden starring Judi Dench and Billy Connolly.

Queen Victoria is deeply depressed after the death of her husband, disappearing from public. Her servant Brown, who adores her, through caress and admiration brings her back to life, but that relationship creates scandalous situation and is likely to lead to monarchy crisis.

Both Balmoral and Windsor Castle are played by Duns Castle, and the stables at Manderston play Windsor stables. John Brown arrives on horse on the coast near Cockburnspath.

Dame Judi Dench was nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal as Queen Victoria and also won a Golden Globe.
