T2 Trainspotting, Danny Boyle’s long awaited and highly anticipated follow up to the cult classic Trainspotting, finally landed in cinemas back in January. Despite a 20-year wait, its popularity at the box office saw it become the third-biggest weekend opening of all time for an 18-rated film racking up over £5m in just three days.

Loosely based on Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting and its follow up Porno, the film reunites the original cast and follows Renton as he returns to Edinburgh to make amends with old friends Sick Boy and Spud while doing his best to avoid the psychotic Begbie.

The production spent more than 60 days filming in the Edinburgh city-region over the spring/summer of 2016. A host of iconic Edinburgh sights appeared on the big screen including Arthur’s Seat and various Old Town streets such as Royal Mile. Danny Boyle and his team were spotted filming at numerous other locations in town, including what appeared to be a recreation of Trainspotting’s famous chase down Princes Street, but they did not make it to the final cut.

However, it appears that with the film’s Blu-Ray and DVD release on June 5th viewers will be able to see even more of Edinburgh on screen as the special features boast a mammoth 29 deleted scenes which total up to more than 30 minutes including 'Stealing iPad', 'Fight', 'Tynecastle' and 'Back to Diane's'. The special features also contain a featurette, '20 Years in the Making' as well as commentary with Danny Boyle and screenwriter John Hodge.

T2 Trainspotting is released on Blu-Ray and DVD on June 5th 2017 and is available on digital download now.
