Margaret's Museum

Mort Ransom - 1996

Margaret's Museum is a critically acclaimed 1995 British-Canadian dark film drama, directed by Mort Ransen starring Helena Bonham Carter and Clive Russell.

In a town where half the men die down the coalpit, Margaret MacNeil is quite happy being single. Until she meets Neil Currie, a charming and sincere bagpipe-playing, Gaelic-speaking dishwasher. But no matter what you do, you can't avoid the spectre of the pit forever.

Filmed at The Scottish Mining Museum at Newtongrange, and in Edinburgh at Napier University's Craighouse building.
