Our Ladies

Michael Caton-Jones - 2019

Michael Caton-Jones adaptation of Alan Warner’s coming-of-age novel The Sopranos.

Set in Scotland during the 90s, a group of Catholic school girls get an opportunity to go into Edinburgh for a choir competition, but they're more interested in drinking, partying and hooking up than winning the competition.

The cast includes newcomers, Eve Austin, Tallulah Greive, Abigail Lawrie, Sally Messham, Rona Morison, and Marli Siu. Kate Dickie and David Hayman also star.

A passion project for Broxburn born Caton-Jones, who first optioned the novel in 1998, Our Ladies filmed in Edinburgh during the winter of 2018.

Our Ladies filming outside CodeBase on Castle Terrace

The production made use of many city streets including Rose Street, Grassmarket, Cockburn Street and Charlotte Square to name a few. The exterior of the Liquid Rooms on Victoria Street was turned into a 90s nightclub called The Pillbox, while CodeBase on Castle Terrace doubled for a police station.

Our Ladies will have its world premiere at the 2019 BFI London Film Festival.
