Edinburgh's film office sits within Marketing Edinburgh in recognition of the fantastic opportunities presented by a successful film or TV series. Some of course have more impact than others, but lately Edinburgh has had a particularly good yield, with T2 Trainspotting, Avengers: Infinity War and Outlander all choosing Edinburgh as their filming location.

John Donnelly, CEO of Marketing Edinburgh said: "40% of visitors to the UK want to visit places they have seen on the screen. This is more than bourne out by the hit series Outlander whose international fanbase has led to huge increases in visitor numbers at the locations that have appeared in the series. Preston Mill footfall increased 26% in the first year since appearing in series 1.

Doune Castle visitor numbers have soared 110% across the 4 years since Outlander was first broadcast. We have seen the birth of Outlander-inspired tours across Scotland, taking Outlander-hungry fans to locations featured in the books and series. With series 3 set largely in Edinburgh we expect to see an impact on visitors in the city, so what better time to host an event about film tourism in Edinburgh than now."
