Midlothian launches Film Charter and Code of Practice

Film Edinburgh is delighted to be providing film office services for Midlothian Council, which ensures that the whole of south east Scotland has film office coverage. Midlothian signed up with us in September 2025 and officially launched its new Film Charter and Code of Practice in the summer of 2026, demonstrating their commitment to developing the region's film-friendly credentials.

Midlothian Council says:
"We’re delighted to announce that Midlothian Council has formally rejoined Film Edinburgh until at least 2030, marking an important step in strengthening the region’s visitor economy, creative industries, and national profile as a filming destination.

"By rejoining Film Edinburgh, Midlothian will benefit from coordinated location promotion, industry connections, and streamlined support for film and television productions looking to work in the area. The move reinforces Midlothian’s ambition to attract high-quality productions that showcase its unique landscapes, heritage assets, and growing creative sector."

Filmmakers can expect to be made aware of locations, businesses and services in Midlothian as well as East Lothian, Scottish Borders and the City of Edinburgh - the whole corner of south east Scotland.
