01/03/18

The third season of hit time-traveling drama, Outlander, lands on DVD and Blu-ray on March 5th 2018. While earlier seasons have featured locations such as Preston Mill in East Lothian, the time travelling element of the series brings the action to Edinburgh city.

Outlander season 3 picks up as Claire (Caitriona Balfe) returns to her life in 1948. Now pregnant with Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) child she struggles to readjust to her previous life that includes her relationship with first husband, Frank. Meanwhile in the 18th century, Jamie deals with the aftermath of the doomed Battle of Culloden.

As the years pass, the pair attempt to make a life apart from each other, however they are haunted by the memory of their lost love. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other, but when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?

Outlander helped contribute to the £16.1million in economic impact generated for the Edinburgh city-region in 2017 with filming taking place at Bakehouse Close, Tweeddale Court and Signet Library in Edinburgh’s Old Town as well as Summerhall and Craigmillar Castle. The stately homes of Gosford and Hopetoun also feature in season 3.
