Apple TV series The Buccaneers is inspired by Edith Wharton's final novel about rich American girls going to London in the 1870s to snare an aristocrat with little money but lots of class. Girls with money, men with power.
The series stars Kristine Froseth (“The Assistant,” “Sharp Stick”), Alisha Boe (“When You Finish Saving The World,” “13 Reasons Why”), Josie Totah (“Saved by the Bell”), Aubri Ibrag (“Dive Club”), Imogen Waterhouse (“The Outpost,” “Nocturnal Animals”) and Mia Threapleton (“Shadows,” “I Am Ruth”) as the buccaneers, as well as Kristina Hendricks, Josh Dylan, Guy Remmers, Matthew Broome and Barney Fishwick.
Led by an all-female creative team (written by series creator Katherine Jakeways, directed by BAFTA Award winner Susanna White), the production team was sourced locally, including several of Edinburgh's finest. Check our Production Guide for crew listings.
Though set in London, the series was filmed entirely in Scotland over 6 months in 2022. With the production based in the Pyramids Studios, 14 miles west of Edinburgh Airport in our neighbouring local authority of West Lothian, the series made ample use of the fantastic array of period locations - countryside, coastal, urban and residential - in Edinburgh, East Lothian and Scottish Borders.
While you're enjoying the fun-loving, free-spirited, rabble-rousing buccaneers stirring up trouble in the stiff upper lipped London Season, see if you can keep half an eye out for the locations - see below.
Available to stream on Apple TV from 8 November.
